New Release Provides Visibility and Control for Mobile Apps; Executive Dashboard Streamlines Risk Assessment and Management
REDWOOD SHORES, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Dec. 9, 2014– Skyfence, an Imperva company that automates visibility and control over cloud apps, today announced a new version of its Skyfence Cloud Gateway that addresses mobile access blindspots, provides enterprise-wide risk assessment and remediation, and provides data privacy for proprietary information stored within sanctioned and unsanctioned cloud apps. According to Gartner, Inc.: Users, the business and enterprise software vendors are all driving a big shift in enterprise computing onto mobile and SaaS-delivered applications. This shift has left a gap in security and compliance that is not met by traditional means. CISOs need to be proactive in addressing this “SaaS security gap” by ensuring that visibility, compliance, threat prevention and data security are addressed to at least the same level as traditional on-premises enterprise applications1.
Workers using cloud apps, particularly with mobile and BYOD access, present new challenges for IT staff. While many organizations may enforce security policies on data being accessed from managed endpoint devices, they lack the ability to enforce access policies on cloud applications. Meanwhile, cloud service providers lack the ability to distinguish between managed and unmanaged endpoints and apply unique access control policies for each.
The latest Skyfence Cloud Gateway helps organizations distinguish and apply unique policies for managed and unmanaged mobile devices, supporting mobile workers accessing both from native mobile apps and mobile browsers. Key new capabilities being introduced include:
Cloud Security for Mobile Access
For seamless user monitoring and policy enforcement on cloud apps accessed from mobile devices, Skyfence now supports both browser and native app access to leading SaaS apps. This helps users securely access their cloud apps from any device, while allowing IT to better maintain usage control standards and detect behavior-based anomalies. Skyfence automatically directs browsers and mobile applications through the Skyfence proxy using an Android app and iOS profile for handhelds and tablets.
Advanced Risk Management Dashboard
To enable streamlined risk management, Skyfence has added an IT executive level reporting dashboard that provides global visibility into trends and changes in an organization’s cloud usage and security posture. Administrators can immediately access metrics and generate reports that compare actual cloud app usage, number of users, location of stored data, and more, against pre-established risk thresholds and baselines. The dashboard also features a wide range of drill-down parameters for in-depth analysis of each app and enables security professionals to remediate risks. From the dashboard, high-risk apps or user actions can be blocked using a firewall, a proxy, or the Skyfence gateway.
Data Privacy through Geo-Fencing
Skyfence also provides visibility and control over where confidential or proprietary data is stored in the cloud. Organizations with operations in regions that are governed by data privacy laws or other regulations can use Skyfence Cloud Gateway to address those requirements by setting geo-fencing policies that specify where data can reside and how it can be used based on service destination and geographic location.
“Managing the security risks associated with cloud apps requires both visibility and the ability to remediate threats in an automated fashion,” said Ofer Hendler, CEO of Skyfence. “This new version of the Skyfence Cloud Gateway protects against the security gap created by mobile apps, while providing organizations with a global view of security risks and the controls they need to remediate problems quickly and easily.”
