FOSTER CITY, CA – April 11, 2005 – Imperva, Inc., the developer of the world’s first Dynamic Profiling Firewall, today announced that the Israel Ministry of Finance is using SecureSphere Dynamic Profiling Firewall to secure Government applications and data from internal and external threats. SecureSphere supports the Ministry’s Tehila Project to help securely connect each of the government ministries to the Internet and create virtual service counters that are always available to the public.
Tehila is responsible for hosting and securing dozens of Government websites that provide information and services to the public. SecureSphere ensures these applications and data are safe by monitoring the activity of each protected application and subsequently blocking attacks.
“To provide our citizens around the clock access to sensitive applications and data, we needed to build a secure platform upon which these government applications and data can appear on the Internet,” said Eric Wolf, Deputy Director of the Tehila Project. “Imperva’s web application firewall is our main line of defense against application-level attacks. More importantly, SecureSphere gives the security team the ability to easily analyze each attack and constantly improve the level of security we provide.”
The SecureSphere Dynamic Profiling Firewall provides total application security by protecting against the key threats facing enterprise applications and databases, including:
- Web application attacks such as SQL Injection, parameter tampering, cookie poisoning.
- Direct database breaches such as data theft by unauthorized employees.
- Worm infections on critical servers, including known infrastructure attacks and Zero Day worms.
Low Administrative Overhead
“SecureSphere was also the most impressive solution in terms of overall quality,” continued Wolf. “We evaluated a variety of products, but Imperva’s solution offered the best combination of performance, coverage and usability.”
SecureSphere cuts operational costs because deployment requires no changes to existing applications and infrastructure and SecureSphere operations requires no on-going manual tuning. This automation is due to Imperva’s Dynamic Profiling technology that can automatically create a profile of the application’s structure and dynamics by examining application and database traffic in the production environment. This application profile is used to identify and block attacks while also recognizing valid application changes and automatically incorporating them into the application profile.
“What we are able to accomplish for the Israel Ministry of Finance is typical of how we can help any organization with the need to secure either one or dozens of critical applications and the back-end data,” said Alan Norquist vice president of marketing and business development for Imperva. “SecureSphere is the best performing and only unified solution to deliver total application security from both internal and external threats.”
