Network World Magazine Says Father of the Firewall Changed Industry
FOSTER CITY, Calif. – March 31, 2006 – Imperva™, the leader in data security for the data center, today announced that its founder and CEO Shlomo Kramer was named one of the 20 most important people in networking over the past 20 years by Network World magazine. Mr. Kramer was recognized for changing the industry with his invention of the network firewall. He is profiled in the March 27 issue of the magazine and online at www.networkworld.com/supp/2006/anniversary/032706-20people.html.
According to Network World, “Wherever there’s an enterprise network, firewalls stand guard at its entry points. Some may argue that a garden-variety firewall no longer provides enough enterprise protection, but no one can deny how significant the technology has been for corporate security during the last decade. Kramer and his compadres at Check Point, including CEO Gil Schwed, get credit for inventing the firewall.”
“Being recognized by Network World alongside 19 luminaries of the industry is an honor and a privilege,” said Shlomo Kramer, founder and CEO of Imperva. “My goal now is to help Imperva achieve the same impact on data security that we achieved with the network firewall at Check Point.”
