SecureSphere Offers Higher Performance and Lower TCO than First Generation Web Application Firewalls
FOSTER CITY, CA – March 30, 2006 – Imperva™, the leader in data security for the data center, today announced a promotion to help organizations migrate from legacy Web Application Firewalls (WAF) to the Imperva SecureSphere Web Application Firewall. Unlike forced migrations that result when vendors discontinue a product line, this promotion offers current WAF users an alternative to their current operational and performance problems. As a part of the promotion, Imperva offers customer discounts for replacing their legacy Web application firewalls with SecureSphere appliances.
By replacing legacy Web application firewalls with SecureSphere, organizations can dramatically reduce total cost of ownership (TCO) without having to make any changes to their existing network and application infrastructure. Moreover, SecureSphere provides significantly better throughput and latency performance than any of the legacy Web application firewalls. The Imperva WAF Trade-in Promotion is available to customers of Citrix (Teros), F5 Networks (Sanctum), and NetContinuum.
“Many enterprises around the world have already made the switch from legacy web application firewalls to the next generation solution embodied in SecureSphere,” said Alan Norquist, Vice President of Marketing for Imperva. “These customers cite increased performance, lower deployment cost, and lower operational overhead as the key benefits they have realized due to the change.”
SecureSphere’s unique underlying technologies, Transparent Inspection and Dynamic Profiling, provide the following deployment advantages over Legacy web application firewall architectures:
Gigabit Performance
SecureSphere delivers multi-gigabit throughput and over 16,000 transactions per second, while maintaining sub-millisecond packet latency. This level of performance is an order of magnitude greater than competing approaches. SecureSphere’s performance is 5 to 10 times better than legacy Web Application Firewalls for both throughput and latency because Transparent Inspection requires less processing overhead.
No Changes to Existing Network
SecureSphere can be flexibly deployed in the network as a transparent inline bridge, an inline router, an inline proxy, or non-inline network monitor. Because of this flexibility, deployment requires no changes to the existing network architecture, including network routers, load balancers and servers.
No Changes to Existing Applications
Powered by its unique Transparent Inspection technology, SecureSphere examines Web traffic for attacks and malicious activity without altering or rewriting Web content. This enables SecureSphere to provide complete and accurate application security without forcing organizations to redesign their Web applications, change authentication schemes, or install new SSL certificates.
Lower Operational Cost
Ongoing policy maintenance is the most significant component of a security solution’s total cost of ownership (TCO). SecureSphere’s Dynamic Profiling eliminates manual tuning by automatically adapting to application changes as they are deployed. In addition, administrators can view, access, and modify profiled information as well as create custom policy rules as desired.
