SAN MATEO, CA — April 6, 2021 — Imperva, Inc., (@Imperva) the cybersecurity leader whose mission is to protect data and all paths to it, names Elad Erez Chief Innovation Officer. In this new role, he will be responsible for incubating new ideas and developing solutions for emerging business problems, while accelerating Imperva product innovation through a buy, build and partner strategy to address challenges facing both customers and the industry.
“Elad is a bold and passionate innovator with an entrepreneurial mindset,” says Pam Murphy, CEO, Imperva. “His expertise in new and emerging technologies along with his extensive relationships in the industry will enable us to lead the next wave of innovation in cybersecurity. We are thrilled to welcome him back to Imperva.”
Most recently, Erez was advising cybersecurity companies on how to: articulate their vision and strategy, rethink go-to-market, and reshape innovation processes and methodologies. Prior, he created and led Check Point Software Technologies’ Innovation Accelerator that incubated numerous projects — cloud security, threat intelligence, Secure Access Service Edge (SASE), Security Operations Center (SOC), network security, risk assessment, mobile security — from ideation, to business and technical validation through to the first sale.
Previously, he spent nearly seven years with Imperva in various roles on the Innovation team, and held a number of leadership roles within the Imperva Data Security business. In addition, Erez drove a number of security and threat intelligence projects, and was instrumental in incubating several innovation projects which were integrated into the product portfolio.
“Innovation is often misinterpreted as ‘just’ product or technology innovation, while innovations in other disciplines such as go-to-market, low-touch sales, cross-selling/upselling, lead generation, customer services and more, have a tremendous business impact but usually don’t get appropriate focus,” says Elad Erez, Chief Innovation Officer, Imperva. “I am both honored and excited to rejoin Imperva to help identify and incubate new products, technologies, services and processes to sustain Imperva’s leadership for years to come. Together with the talented executive team, the technology stack and foothold in the market, this is a rich and wide playground for innovation and I’m super excited about this.”
Erez earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Software Engineering from Shenkar College of Engineering, Design and Art. He holds a patent for deception-based database exfiltration and ransomware protection, and devotes his spare time to building free tools and analytics to help organizations worldwide mitigate cyber pandemics. He created the “Eternal Blues” tool to assist security teams with remediation of WannaCry/NotPetya, and collaborated with worldwide CERTs by providing local Sunburst/Supernova analytics.
