Operator of Red Roof Inns, Motel 6, Studio, Sofitel, Novotel, and Ibis Properties Deploys SecureSphere for Data Security

FOSTER CITY, Calif., Jan. 24, 2006 – Imperva™, the leader in data security for the data center, today announced that Accor North America, one of the nation’s largest owner/operators of economy lodging, has selected both the SecureSphere™ Database Security Gateway and Web Application Firewall to protect its Internet-based reservation systems and back-end databases from attack. Accor chose SecureSphere for its unique ability to provide integrated database and application security, as well as monitoring and auditing of database activity.

Accor North America operates more that 1,200 upscale and economy hotel properties in North America including Sofitel, Novotel, Ibis, Red Roof Inn, Studio 6 and Motel 6. Accor North America is a division of Accor S.A., one of the world’s largest providers of travel, tourism and corporate services with operations in 140 countries. The company operates 4,000 hotels, casinos, travel agencies, and restaurants.

The Accor North America online reservation system enables customers to access information, check availability, and book accommodations over the Internet at Red Roof Inns, Motel 6, Studio, Sofitel, Novotel, and Ibis properties. SecureSphere is being deployed to protect this web application and its databases from external and internal threats. Accor selected SecureSphere over competing products for its database and web application security capabilities, automated security policy creation that requires no manual tuning, and unified management.

“The Accor online reservation system is one of our most important revenue channels and a critical touch point for serving customers of all our North American properties,” said Jeff Winslow, CIO for Accor North America. “SecureSphere enables us to protect this business critical infrastructure from attack and data theft, while at the same time allowing our IT staff to be alerted of any unusual activity as it occurs. Imperva is helping us protect the security and privacy of customer data, and gain unprecedented visibility into who is accessing this critical operational system.”

“Protecting data handled by a high volume transaction system like Accor’s online reservation platform requires an integrated solution that spans both application and database security capabilities,” said Shlomo Kramer, founder and CEO of Imperva. “Accor’s decision to deploy SecureSphere provides real-world validation that Imperva can provide end-to-end data security for the most demanding e-commerce applications in the world.”
