Mr. Shulman Recognized for Contributions to Database Security Research
FOSTER CITY, Calif., June 9, 2006 – Imperva™, the leader in data security for the data center, today announced that its CTO Amichai Shulman was named one of the 25 most influential CTOs for 2006 by InfoWorld Magazine. The fifth annual InfoWorld CTO Awards honor 25 leaders who exemplify the best in IT management and innovation. Mr. Shulman is profiled in the June 5 issue of InfoWorld and on the publication’s web site at: http://www.infoworld.com/pdf/special_report/2006/23SRcto2006.pdf
Mr. Shulman was honored by InfoWorld for his contributions to identifying database vulnerabilities. As head of the Imperva Application Defense Center (ADC), Mr. Shulman uncovers security holes in commercial database software and reports them to vendors so they can issue patches and fixes. In the last year, the ADC has discovered major vulnerabilities in DB2, Oracle and SQL Server databases. The ADC’s research findings are also used to enhance Imperva’s SecureSphere product line with next generation attack detection and protection features.
“Database vulnerabilities place sensitive corporate and confidential consumer data at risk, yet there are very few firms conducting research in this area,” said Amichai Shulman. “The Application Defense Center helps prevent major security breaches by alerting vendors of holes in their databases and enhancing our products so they can protect unpatched databases from these exploits.”
Prior to founding Imperva, Mr. Shulman was CTO at Edvice, an application-and-database security consultancy. Earlier in his career he served in various command-and-control positions in the Israeli Defense Forces for projects related to information security.
