Leader in Web Application and Database Security Adds Security Expert/Author to Management Team

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., Jan. 20, 2009 – Imperva®, the leader in application data security, today announced the appointment of Brian Contos as chief security strategist. Contos is a noted information security speaker and author with over a decade of experience. He joins Imperva from ArcSight where he advised government organizations and Global 2000s on security strategy and helped position ArcSight for a successful IPO in 2008.

Brian Contos has spent more than 12 years in various leadership positions within the information security industry including IT, consulting, professional services, sales, and marketing. He is frequently asked to speak on security topics around the world, has authored numerous business and technical articles, and has written two books “Enemy at the Water Cooler” (Syngress Publishing 2006), and co-authored “Physical and Logical Security Convergence” (Elsevier Publishing 2007) with William Crowell, former Deputy Director of the NSA. Contos joins Imperva from security information and event management (SIEM) company ArcSight where he was senior director of solutions marketing and Chief Security Officer. During his six plus years at ArcSight he helped the company grow its customer base by several orders of magnitude, increase annual revenues to over $100 million, and complete a successful IPO in 2008. Contos has also held positions with Riptech (now Symantec), Bell Labs/Lucent Technologies, Tandem Computers (now HP), and the Defense Information System Agency (DISA). He holds a BS in Business Administration from the University of Arizona and a number of industry and vendor certifications.
