Deploy API Security On-Premises with New Imperva API Security Anywhere Self-Managed Option

API Security Anywhere Self-Managed Option

Imperva continues to deliver solutions that help customers protect their applications and APIs, whether in the Cloud, on-premises, or in a hybrid environment. Imperva API Security includes a SaaS-based and an on-premises solution, both managed in the Imperva Cloud Management Console. Imperva is further expanding the management options for its API Security Anywhere solution, reinforcing its position as a leader in API protection.

We are excited to announce the general availability of the Imperva API Security Anywhere Self-Managed console. The new self-managed option introduces a local console that runs in a customer-controlled environment, allowing customers to manage their API Security Anywhere product independent of the Imperva Cloud Management Console.

Controlled API Discovery Data

With the introduction of the self-managed option, API Security Anywhere now supports two management options: cloud-managed and self-managed. API Security Anywhere processes API call data in a customer-controlled environment.

The cloud-managed option allows customers to view and manage the API discovery data and risk assessment results using the Imperva Cloud Management Console.

Customers who prefer to manage their API Security Anywhere with a local console can now choose the self-managed option.

Benefits of API Security Anywhere Self-Managed

The primary advantage of an on-premises, self-managed console is that all API Security management functions can be performed locally, within the customer’s premises. Customers can retain all of their API discovery information within their premises and perform functions, such as API discovery, classification, and risk assessment locally, without having to upload their API discovery information to the cloud hosted console. This API Security Anywhere Self-Managed release also includes:

  • A health dashboard that displays the CPU and memory consumption of the various processes associated with the Self-Managed console, controller, and sensors.
  • A High-Availability (HA) datastore capability, where the API discovery and classification info can be stored in an HA database configuration.

These enhancements provide a robust, flexible, and secure solution for managing API Security Anywhere on-premises.

Software deployment and updates are still managed via the Imperva Cloud Management Console, ensuring that both cloud-managed and self-managed configurations receive timely updates and improvements.

Flexible API Security Anywhere Inspection Options

  • API Security Anywhere supports a wide array of available API inspection plug-ins and sensors, including:
    • Imperva WAF Gateway Plug-in: Integrated into Imperva on-premises WAF Gateways
    • Integration with Leading API Gateways: Compatible with Kong, Mulesoft, Azure APIM Gateway, and Apigee for streamlined deployment and management.
    • A lightweight sidecar sniffer: Acts as an API Security sensor for inspecting APIs in Kubernetes environments.

Conclusion

With the new on-premises API Security Anywhere Self-Managed console, Imperva continues to lead the way in comprehensive API Security solutions. Whether you prefer cloud-managed convenience or the control of on-premises management, Imperva offers flexible deployment and management options to meet your needs.
