Thrilled to Join Imperva

Today marks my first day at Imperva and I could not be more thrilled to join the outstanding team behind the impressive products that keep our customers safe every day.

I’ve been asked to share why I joined Imperva, and candidly there are a number of reasons:

First, timing: I think that security – especially for the enterprise which is my background – is at an all-time high in terms of visibility and importance. In my previous role as COO of an enterprise software company, I dealt with a variety of interesting and challenging topics spanning R&D, sales, services, support and many others from partners, customers, employees and other external stakeholders. My email was a bulging bag of compliments and complaints. When I scanned my unopened emails, there were two names that I hoped would not be in my unopened list: my CISO and the Compliance/Privacy Officer. They were truly talented people, but it is every executive’s nightmare to receive that email to tell you that an application or some data has been compromised. That sinking feeling in the bottom of your stomach that informs you that you have failed in securing the most important asset that your customers have entrusted to you: their data.

Secondly, I seek challenge: today’s technology environment could not be more complex – cloud, hybrid and on-prem environments, edge computing, replication sets, data lakes, IOT – making it hard for our customers to get their arms around the totality of where data resides or application boundaries begin. As an IT professional owning applications and data in a B2B or B2C environment; or a software vendor whose business it is to develop applications; there is a fundamental dependence on security experts to help navigate the dangerous waters and protect critical assets.

As someone who has been on the other side of needing to be protected against cybercriminals, I am deeply respectful of the huge responsibility of cybersecurity companies to keep their customers’ data and applications safe. It is a responsibility that I vow to take very seriously in my role at Imperva given the criticality of it to our customers and in turn their obligations to their customers.

Finally, I am truly passionate about delivering a quality product. To continue delivering for our customers, we must continue to innovate and stay ahead of the cybercriminals. Thanks to our products, we have a fantastic market leading positioning to capitalize on. We will continue to invest and differentiate ourselves from the competition, and to be the market disruptor.

I look forward to working not only with Imperva’s experienced leadership team, but also the amazing talent throughout our organization who touch the product every day and support our customers in protecting themselves against the threats they face.
